Statement:
Mutual Terrain brings together works that examine the deep entanglements between human life and the natural world. Through imagery, memory, and place-based reflection, this exhibition explores the land not as a passive backdrop but as an active, animate force—one that remembers, resists, and collaborates.
Together, these pieces form a collective meditation on interdependence, offering pathways to re-imagine our relationships with the environments we inhabit. They invite viewers to consider how landscapes shape and are shaped by human presence, challenging the myth of the land as neutral or static.

Screening “Buildings Are Heavy" A documentary Film By Kim Shively
Set in Denver, Buildings Are Heavy is an intimate portrait of place and how people and the spaces they inhabit shape the identity of a city. The film’s central characters are three longstanding artist-run spaces (also known as DIY spaces) as well as a hundred-year-old bank building located in north Denver. As the residents of these spaces react to their changing environment, and the looming closure of their buildings, we learn about the importance of community and the role art plays in gentrification.

Statement:
The games collected in Free Hors d’Oeuvres offer commentary on The Art World. We were attracted to those that exhibit an irreverent sense of humor. The works range from abstract low-resolution two-dimensional games to highly detailed three-dimensional experiences in a first-person point-of-view. We’ve included games that explore the sensations of living as a working artist, and the experiences of visiting galleries and museums. We’ve focused on works that are quick to learn, our own acknowledgement of the short amounts of time many gallery goers commit to viewing individual works.

Reception “Non-Playable”
Reception for “Non-Playable”
work by Andy DiLallo, Jacob Riddle, Ian Anderson
Thursday, July 24, 2025
7:30 PM 9:00 PM
@The STOREROOM
1700 Vine St.
Denver, Colorado 80206
This event is free
Statement:
Non-Playable features a simulated world inhabited by non-playable characters (NPCs), each driven by desires they cannot fully satisfy. The NPCs embody distinct internet-based personas, engaging in repetitive behaviors toward the endless pursuit of an unattainable goal. Throughout their search, an artificial intelligence model extensively trained on literary texts generates each character's internal dialogue.
Presented across multiple synchronized screens, the installation contrasts a virtual environment, where NPCs autonomously perform tasks and weigh the costs of each action, with intimate moments of introspection as they grapple with understanding their circumstances. Viewers observe this perpetual cycle of longing, reflection, and struggle through the window of the Storeroom gallery.

Statement:
The works in this exhibition extrapolate and contemplate the results of what would be considered for a lack of a better term “soft conflicts”. Within these videos and installations we see uncomfortable interactions of language barriers embodied, repetitive actions in domestic spaces intentionally misplaced and displayed for voyeurism, and a wildly aggressive sport neutered by a condensed playing field. We consistently feel our personal time and space collapsing at a record rate as bodies and boundaries become more and more transient materials.
